For the rest, the review is built from vendor documentation and independent sources rather than hands-on use. Both paths follow the same nine steps below, and every review states which one applies.

Pull pricing, standards claims and features straight from the vendor’s own site and documentation.

Map the standards claimed
Check every claimed standard, WCAG version, EN 301 549, ADA, Section 508, against what the vendor actually documents.

Cross-check independent sources
Compare vendor claims against the WebAIM Million, the Overlay Fact Sheet, and any regulatory or legal findings on public record.

Trial terms, per-domain or per-page-view limits, and anything easy to miss at checkout.

Do you test every tool yourselves?
For six tools, UserWay, accessiBe, Wawsome, AccessiWay, Eye-Able and AudioEye, we created a live account and tested the product directly. For the rest, the review is built from the vendor’s own documentation and pricing pages, independent sources like the WebAIM Million and the Overlay Fact Sheet, and any public regulatory findings, all linked so you can check them. Every review states which applies; see the methodology page for the full breakdown.
How do you make money?
Some outbound links to vendor sites are affiliate or referral links, which don’t change the price you pay. We don’t accept payment from any vendor in exchange for a ranking or a positive review.
Why isn’t there one single top 10 list?
“Best” depends on what you’re solving for. We publish separate best-of roundups by use case, budget and region instead of one ranking that assumes every organization needs the same thing.
How often is this updated?
We revisit a page whenever pricing, features or standards support changes, and we add new comparisons and guides on an ongoing basis.
What do the star ratings mean?
Each rating reflects our published methodology: standards breadth, whether a human review is offered alongside automation, pricing transparency, and any independent findings on record. It isn’t a hands-on lab test score.
