Log the official facts
Pull pricing, standards claims and features straight from the vendor’s own site and documentation.

Map the standards claimed
Check every claimed standard, WCAG version, EN 301 549, ADA, Section 508, against what the vendor actually documents.

Cross-check independent sources
Compare vendor claims against the WebAIM Million, the Overlay Fact Sheet, and any regulatory or legal findings on public record.

Read the full pricing page
Trial terms, per-domain or per-page-view limits, and anything easy to miss at checkout.

Separate marketing from evidence
Anything we can’t confirm gets flagged as a vendor claim, not repeated as fact.

We record whether a tool offers a human-reviewed manual check, not only automated scanning.

What the editorial rating measures
Each tool’s rating out of 5 is scored against four things we can verify from public sources: how many accessibility standards it documents support for, whether it pairs automated scanning with a human-reviewed manual check, how transparent its pricing is, and any independent findings, audits or regulatory actions on public record. It is not a hands-on lab benchmark, and we say so on every page that shows it.

Hands-on tested vs. documentation-based
In August and September 2026, we created a live account on the standard paid plan for six tools, UserWay, accessiBe, Wawsome, AccessiWay, Eye-Able and AudioEye, installed each on a test site, and checked keyboard navigation, screen reader announcements, and page load impact firsthand. The remaining tools in our library (Deque, Allyant, EqualWeb, WebYes and Accessi+) are evaluated from vendor documentation, pricing pages and independent sources rather than hands-on use. Every review and comparison table on this site labels which applies, and a rating is never higher just because a tool was tested hands-on rather than from documentation.
Independence and corrections
We don’t accept payment from any vendor in exchange for a ranking or a positive review. Some outbound links to vendor sites are affiliate or referral links; this does not change the price you pay. If you spot an error or an outdated figure for any vendor, the contact page reaches us directly and we review every message.
