best-accessibility.com is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Given the subject matter of this site, we treat this as a baseline requirement rather than an aspiration.
What we’ve done
The site is built with semantic HTML landmarks, a visible skip-to-content link on every page, a logical heading structure, keyboard-operable navigation and interactive elements, visible focus indicators that are never suppressed, color contrast that meets or exceeds AA thresholds in both text and interface components, resizable text that doesn’t break layout up to 200%, and alternative text on informative images. Data tables use proper header associations, and forms use associated labels, clear instructions and accessible error handling.
This site intentionally does not use an automated “accessibility overlay” widget to make adjustments on top of the page. Accessibility here is built into the templates and markup directly, for the same reason we write about the limits of overlay-only remediation elsewhere on this site.
Testing
We test with a mix of automated tooling (including axe-core based checks) and manual testing: keyboard-only navigation, screen reader spot checks, and browser zoom and reflow testing. Automated testing catches a minority of real accessibility issues, so manual review is part of our process for every new template and page type, not just an initial pass.
Known limitations
Some third-party embeds (video, external widgets) linked or embedded from vendor sites we review may not meet the same standard, since we do not control that code. We note this here rather than claiming a standard we can’t guarantee for content we don’t control.
